Super Bowl LIII Performances to Feature Atlanta Natives
Posted on January 17, 2019 in AtlantaMuch like the entire city of Atlanta, our team at The Georgian Terrace in the city’s Midtown neighborhood has spent the last few weeks busily preparing to play host to Super Bowl LIII and anxiously awaiting the announcement of the big game’s star-studded lineup of performers.
We’re happy to report that the wait is now officially over!
Earlier this week, the Super Bowl committee announced that Atlanta’s own Gladys Knight will have the honor of performing the national anthem during the pre-game festivities. Knight, also known as “The Empress of Soul,” has won seven Grammys, recorded two number-one Billboard Hot 100 singles – “Midnight Train to Georgia” and “That’s What Friends Are For”– and is listed as one of Rolling Stone Magazine’s 100 Greatest Singers of All Time.
Joining Gladys on the lineup of Super Bowl XLVIII performances is rapper Big Boi, who will perform during halftime alongside Maroon 5 and fellow rapper Travis Scott. Like Knight, Big Boi is also an Atlanta native.
