In 2017, the property completed a $7.0 million-dollar renovation and conversion to the DoubleTree by Hilton brand.  Sotherly Hotels first acquired the hotel in 2007 in a joint venture with The Carlyle Group and shortly thereafter won the 2008 InterContinental Hotels Group Developer of the Year and Renovation of the Year awards for the effort. In 2015, Sotherly Hotels acquired the outstanding 75.0% interest in the property, giving the company sole ownership of the resort.
