In 2018, Hotel Ballast completed a $10.0 million renovation effort that includes a total refresh of all areas of the property, including upgrades to all 272 of the hotel’s guestrooms, the addition of Board & Barrel as the hotel’s signature restaurant, as well as other improvements to the lobby, pool area, meeting space, and other public areas. Sotherly Hotels acquired the hotel, formerly known as the Hilton Wilmington Riverside, during its initial public offering in 2004 and previously completed a renovation effort in 2008.
